We have, what I suspect, a congestion issue around 6pm during the week. Sometimes it renders the internet connection completely useless with local pings over 1000ms. It becomes better as the night goes on.
Phone: 021 976 xxxx
Line speed: 4Mbps/10Mbps
ISP: OpenWeb - Gold Uncapped
Time: Weekdays around 6pm, also month ends.

Yes, I know a few people that stay in the area and have the exact same issue ! its terrible, I am in Uitzicht and speed is perfect.

How does someone go about getting Telkom to implement upgrades / resolve the congestion!

Exactly the same issue here. Also in Pinehurst. Latency makes gaming unplayable.

My tracert is over a 1000 ms for first hop.

Phone: 021 976 xxxx
Line speed: 2Mbps
ISP: MWEB 2mbps premium uncapped

Pinehurst Durbanville:

In peak times between 5pm and 2am in the mornings poor latency, slow speeds. Speed Test: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/2902844931 yes that's 0.13/0.12 on a 1mbit line... Latency is over 1K as seen below.

Phone: 021 975 xxxx
Line speed: 1Mbps
ISP: MWeb 1Mbps Uncapped ADSL (I used to be on 4Mbit but when this nonsense started last year October I downgraded since telkom wouldn't fix their nonsense)
Time: 8:15PM (but varies generaly between 5pm-ish and 2am-ish)

Connection Speed 1024 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 16.0 db 10.0 db

Furthermore, it was bad in Jan this year and I spent time every evening on the phone with Telkom complaining about the speed and latency. Then after about a month of terrible speeds, things got better. Up until last night, i was getting 160ms average latency but since last night it has been around 1200-1500ms.

What I do know is that Pinehurst is on a remote network and I suspect that there is either congestion at an exchange level (someone new has moved into the area and is flatlining his 10mbps line when they get home from work) or there is a bottle neck getting us onto the main fibre ring.

Pretty much same story with me, but when it got "better" the speed never got above 1.6Mbit in peak times with it averaging around 1mbit even though I was sitting on a 4mbit line back then. Thats when I just decided stuff this and down graded to 1Mbit, but as you can see in my latest speed test even that is sitting at 0.13mbit now....

Surely there must be a decent infrastructure in place i.e. with the new Pinehurst Shopping Centre going up?
