I am having a lot of problems communicating with a certain server and I find that a lot of packets are being dropped between my computer and this server.

If I run the command:
ping 160.79.229.80 –t

And leave this running for a period of time (a few hours) then I get the following results:

Ping statistics for 160.79.229.80:
Packets: Sent = 12644, Received = 12530, Lost = 114 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 551ms, Maximum = 936ms, Average = 575ms

Which shows me that 114 packets of data were lost along the way.

If I trace the route using “tracert 160.79.229.80” it shows me:

Trace complete.

How can I identify where the problem is? The jump from ip 3 to 4 seems to be particularly long. Is this the problem?
