Hi Guys,

I Have just pinged www.google.com and got an average of 585ms, www.myadsl.co.za and got 61ms and www.aardvark.co.za and got 16ms Does this mean i will never be able to use a international VPN?

I need to connect to a VPN in France to get mail and to connect to a server there for work related purposes. I have never been capped nor do I expect to be as i do not play games or download big music files.

I hear a lot of complaints but i must confess that I do not really understand all the comments.

Please help

It's just possible that IMCP (the ping uses) has a lower
priorioty on the international line. Also some routers along
might be configured that way as well so the ping looks worse
than the line is (although looking at today 585ms is an understatement)

Best is just to try it ands ee what happens?

Thanks Blue ICE,

I have tried and no luck so this is what I did to see why. I am really shocked that they can sell this when you actually have much better international bandwidth with a normal telephone dial up. To me they misrepresent themselves. Sure they do not guarantee the international bandwidth but to have worse than a normal dial uo, something is worng surely. Can you perhaps explain?

In theory you should be able to get much more international bandwith with your adsl connection then your dial-up. The problem is that there is now service level agreement with adsl (no gaurentees). Because of the lack of gaurentee you will get the bandwith that is available in the collective pool of adsl users, which dramatically change during the day.
