Has anyone else had this issue?

For the past 2 weeks I am having major ping spikes when gaming. For instance, I start a match for COD Warzone with a ping/latrncy of 32ms. Then after about 3/4mins of playing it spikes to 300ms. For that 2 mins im basically just running past the same bench 30 times without actually passing it. Then it drops back to 32 again for a few minutes. Sometimes it never drops again and im kicked with the message 'lost connection to server'.

It is not just Warzone either. My cousin gets the same issue on Fortnite and Apex has the same deal. This is true whether on the PC or the Xbox and remains true whether both is used at the same time or whether only 1 person is at home.

This has only been happening the last 2 weeks though, never had any issues before then.

Have logged a ticket and even received confirmation of the ticket, will see when/if i actually get a response on it.

4 months? That would be way past my limit for cancelling. I mainly use it for gaming and streaming and the odd download. If it gets to that point i would rather go back to Level-7. Less speed and higher price but never had any ping issues unless everyone was home and doing their own thing at the same time. Rain_Mobile is in contact with me now so hoping this is something that can get sorted

Yes ,got an actual call 2 days in a row about this basically giving me generic "move your router" and " use wired" but no actual answer as to the reason for the spikes. Provided them with ping plotter data, screenshots and speedtest results as requested and theb nothing. That is a week ago. Silly me, here i thought the CEO made a commitment for better client service

I just had 2 expert field techs come over to my premises earlier today - looked around apartment, asked me if I have move the router around - here, there and everywhere...
And this is not for my ( soon to be 5 ) 4 month speed & latencies issue, but since 11h40 yesterday, my 5G died... few towers went down, but are now apparently up, but I can't latch on to the closest 1...
They tried a whole lot of PCI's to latch onto, none of them worked - then they said it needs to be escalated to networks... I mean, really !
Have sent @rain_mobile & @rain_networks msgs, lets see...

*sigh*frustrated*gettingAngry*

I am not glad about your Issues but I am glad I am not the only one suffering from both of you guys issues!
and believe me, it is very very frustrating, I also do a lot of PC gaming and ping on my side have been bad basically for the past year until about 2 months ago where I found a Tower with quite stable latency and good speeds but unfortunately for no reason I got Dced from an Overwatch competitive game 3 days ago to realize at the end that I literally cannot connect to that Tower anymore...
I contacted Rain mobile and they told me there is no alert on that Tower but the fact is that I cant connect to it anymore therefor now I'm back to connecting to these other bad Towers with either 80ms or 40ms latency if I'm lucky when it used to be 20ms on that tower...
This is just sad...
I hope they fix this one day but with Rain I've learned not to have too much hope...

Here is the official reaponse i received today.

"Please be advised that our backend has come back saying that this is really not the rain network that is causing the spikes.
Please try testing the games on other devices and also please try playing the same games using another network to see if you experience the same issues."

Apparantly, having the same issue on an xbox and on 2 pc's (with netflix stuttering on an android device thrown in when the spikes occur) does not count as multiple devices.

Yes, sure i will go right ahead and link up with my other 2 spare service providers just to check if it happens on their networks as well

Just to update - my issue of not connecting to the nearest tower has finally been resolved, thanks @rain_mobile
Latency still an issue...

Lol, I have tried MTN & Voda on the same & different equipment - no issues with them, just with Rain...
Above response is really just a poor excuse sorry to say, but yeah...
Thing that gets me is, 4 or 5 months ago ( for me anyways ) same equipment, I used to get 10-15ms local; 150-170 international, but its 80+ms local & 300+ms int...

Exactly. Same pc's, same xbox, same phones all had 0 issues (now) 4 weeks ago. Nothing changed on my side. I must say I am not impressed atm. Then again, i knew RAIN had issues going into this as it is all over the forums. Its just that no-one could beat the speed/price ratio they offer. No Fibre in my street even though there is literally the street above us for the last 4 years allready.

Doesnt the strict nat affect your ging as well?
That mostly affects finding games from what i can see although im told it could affect communications in game as well. But as in my original post this was not an issue untill recently so i don't believe its related. Also the physical hardware does not allow for anything but strict NAT on this router model so kinda stuck with it

I requested them to come and check my connection for months, they just ignored my requests and kept sending me generic emails to move my router higher... And so I have, spend money to do so as well, expecting better signal... At some point they finally sent out a technician, just copying everything I have been trying the last year for them to come to the conclusion that they don't know what is wrong or how to fix it. I requested a report from rain after that multiple times to some point they answered and just said it my ELEVATION... I am to high compared to the towers, oh btw I have 8 towers in front of my house less than 2km from me. Living on the side of a mountain looking down on these towers and being constantly told to put it higher... So apparently you can be to high for these towers even if you have line of sight on 4 of them. After which they told me, they cant help me with it and I might as well just cancel... Weird thing is, the first month or two when I got the premium package it was awesome and working great, since then, well, cant play any online games as i get disconnected every 10 min, cant properly do my job as I have to restart the router to every 15 min to receive or reply to a mail. So in my opinion, Rain can suck a...

Just got an e-mail to rate the assistance i received. Lol. The lady that contacted me was just fine, i have no issue giving her a good rating. But the back-end assistance....generic user manual excuses instead of saying "we don't know". Own up and admit you have no idea what is going on on your own network.

They do know what's going on. It's all being let to Vodacom.

Had 2 entire full games on 980 ping last night. Its not even just a minute or 2 spike but yes sure, its "really not the RAIN network causing this".
