I got my ADSL 4meg line activated recently, and would appreciate some opinions!

Speedtest.net results:

Which I assume does not present any serious concerns?

But when I run Pingtest, I get:

Now, as I understand it, packet loss of 96% should mean that my line would be useless, but I am not experiencing any serious connection problems, except for Youtube etc streaming being slower than I expected it to be.

When I use CMD ping, I get 0% packet loss, both local and international, why is this so different from the Pingtest result? Am I not understanding Pingtest, or could there be a Firewall issue?

My Attenuation also seems too high, down being 54dB... should I contact Telkom about this?

My Modem data:

Operation Data / Defect Indication:
Operation Data

Upstream

Downstream

Noise Margin

17 dB

15 dB

Attenuation

23 dB

54 dB

Thanks for the thoughts!

It could be due to a network problem. Just go by the CMD ping.

Pingtest.net uses UDP packets and TCP packets to measure your jitter as well as packet loss. On some networks ICMP is prioritized to the max to always look good, however pingtest.net won't test that, but real connections. So this might be shaped on your ISP's side without them even knowing that.
