Is anyone else experiencing bad ping times both locally and internationally?

is there any way of improving these times

What do you call bad ping times ?

signal strength: 36%
tower: 66
distance: if its on top of hyde park shopping centre then less then 500m
ping times: avg 160 25%loss www.mweb.co.za
avg 415 25% loss www.yahoo.com

Do you normally get better than that, I ave about the same to mweb and about 380 to yahoo.

i usually get a bit worse then that,
those ping times just arent ideal for online gaming and real time apps.
any ideas to on how to improve those times

I'm getting *** download speeds currently on 66


not to mention the pings

I'm on 22% signal strenght

ProAsm, I saw in another topic that you found a major reason for the high pings. When can we expect it to be fixed?

Spikes, Cerberus and I have been conducting several ping tests on game servers and we discovered something, but we have to proove it beyond all doubt before I can say anything else it could create unnecessary trouble.
Basically we are waiting till all work is completed on the base station we work into then we can continue our tests.
Nero, is there possibly another tower you can connect into also what system you got, the 256k ?

Well, not that I know much about online gaming and all,
but I played quake3 on some international server (only one that would take my cd key) and well, i actually got about 6 or 7 kills to the top wich was 9 or more. I'm pretty prowd. Not that much packet loss, it's just the aiming wich is best with rocket launcher, rather than rail gun.

Rail arena with 500ms+ pings anyone ? hehe

I doubt there is another tower i can connect too because im so close to tower 66. im on the 256 package

Hmmm im no expert but my guess will have to be with the tower.

I get about 120ms ping times to mweb and im on 21% signal strength at -88Db's I get no packet loss whatsoever, on 256k as well.
