Pioneer PDP-5020FD

Plamsa

Pioneers is unfortunatly closing there plasma division - quite a shame

If you want the best plasma that is currently available then I would suggest a 50" Panasonic Professional Panel.

These screens produce the best PQ in the market
80% of all of the screens we install are the Pro Panels

cheers

Try the more exclusive stores, theres one next to Timberland in Sandton City, if they dont have they would know who stocks them.

Personally I recommend the Sony W or X series LCDs they brilliant!!

thanks JK8 and Arch .... :) will look at those options ...

price for the pana and sony panels?

A little pricy, but if you have the money than its worth it!!!
W - Series 40" 25k up 125Mhz with motionflow
X - Series 40" 30k up 200Mhz with motionflow

You can still get the pioneer Kuro panel if you want, try avshop.co.za

personally, i think the panasonic is so close, i don't think it's worth the money difference. Actually, new Samsung series panels (launched in 3 weeks in SA) will be even better value for money. unless you sit there one meter way from your plasma, staring at the TV, you're not really gonna notice the difference.

dotVIBE, i looked at the series 9 Samsung with LED tech ... and the spec sheet looks amazing ... 50" might be too large ... think id go with 46" ... 1080P with 100Mhz, amazing contrast ratio ... this LED tech also looks good ... just to see it in action ... maybe i will visit one of the AV stores to see what they have

aaah, with LED tech you are looking at LCD panels, and then yes, 46" is the sweet spot, as you'll pay double for the 52". Not sure whether samsung even makes a 52", but that sure is the case with sony. So, if you are mainly buying for watching dvd & blu-ray, LCD is the way to go. If more for TV watching, maybe consider sticking to plasma.
