A 79-year-old man is lucky to be alive after he was attacked by a pitbull in Albersville recently.

At the time, Kista Moodley was visiting his daughter and had taken along his Jack Russell, which was on a leash.

“We got out of the car and walked towards my daughter’s house. I saw the pitbull running towards us; I grabbed my dog and just managed to place her inside the car. Luckily, I had the driver’s widow open.”

While Moodley was blocking the open window, the pitbull turned on him.

Ah, gotcha. TBF the knife is kind of dual purpose. But my dogs have been seriously attacked twice in the past, both times my wife was walking them so it pays to be aware of the threat. Last week was not so bad when a lad we pay to walk the dogs on weekdays turned a corner and three dogs off the leash went for our little rescue. She slipped her collar and ran all the way home (probably about 7-800m) across the busy main road too. He was more traumatised than the dog but she's lucky to get across the roads unscathed.
