Hi All
This is just a regurgitation of what has happened to me - but someone might find it useful.
I have a property that I rent out in KZN and the landline/DSL is in my name. I have tenants in the house and they took out an "all in one" ADSL package which includes the ISP managing the DSL portion of the line.
No idea how he manged to migrate the DSL when the line belongs to me, but he did and I didn't know about it. So anyway, he's now moving out and I'm moving in and I wanted upgrade the line so I phone Telkom and ask them. They tell me "sorry you need to get your ISP to do it" ---- you can see where this is going.
Luckily I know the guys at his ISP quite well, so I drop them a Skype asking them what I do, only to be told that as far as they're concerned the DSL "belongs" to the tenant and I can't take ownership back unless he cancels his current account and "allows" me to take ownership back.
Luckily, my tenant is a fairly good guy and I'm sure he will sort it out, but there is a lesson to be learnt here....
