So 4 months back I was diagnosed with Ademous Pituitary Tumor (non cancerous) and started treatment, Nuclear radiation therapy and pills, I have been taking hormone pills like Betanoids which contains cortisol steroids. My concern is that those betanoid pills makes my face puffy and have gain tremendous weight (I look like a panda). So is there anyone who has been through this type of tumor and how did they lose those weight effects of the medication.

What's stimulating the weight gain, any way to manage/reduce the food intake?

Nothing you can do about the weight gain except stopping the cortisone. You should make sure it's really necessary and what it does. As for the tumor there's nothing wrong in treating it if the side effects are not too bad. They're often an incidental finding though and not the cause of the symptoms so perhaps look for a second opinion.

It's the cortisone.......and, as swa said, there's nothing you can do except stop it, which you obviously can't. Don't stress the small stuff, rather look after your health and get the tumour sorted. I went through 18 rounds of chemo - 6 "red devil", where I lost a lot of weight, followed by 12 rounds of lighter chemo called Taxol. Unfortunately, during the taxol, I was given a whole bag of cortisone (amongst 7 bags, each session) and I gained 7 kilograms within those 3 months - that's just what steroids do.
Good luck with the rest of your treatment.

Currently the biggest side effects of the treatment is weight gain, as for the tumor I have high proclatim levels, have dropped and went up again, testosterone levels have dropped too (worries me), without the medication I have bad headaches, loss of vision, dizziness, nausea etc. Treatment helps with this a lot. From the radiation I have also lost my hair LOL

Sorry to hear BM, at least the tumour's not malignant.

Good luck with the treatment.

Hey dude vasbyt and continue with the treatment.
I'm sure you'll get through this ok.
You'll always be able to manage the weight later.

The corticosteroids will contribute to weight gain especially puffiness.

But work through the treatment and get better soon!

Strongs to you bud.
