So i will be moving out of my place to another place due to unforeseen circumstances by the end of November, so i would like to ask a few questions:

1. which safe places in Durban have fibre infrastructure? i am mostly interested in Morningside, Musgrave and other nice but affordable places not too far from Durban cbd.

2. How does cancellation fee get calculated? Do they take into account the number of months that were left on your "12month contract clawback period"
3. How long does Coolideas take to install and activate an account? if infrastructure is available? I am going to be cancelling my contract with VOX so i am likely to move to Coolideas. @PBCool
4. Regarding returning the router, what do i need to know and do? luckily i kept the box for the Microtik router that i was provided by VOX, i had thought about throwing it away but i did not after reading some stories on MBB.

All depends on the FNO we basically absorb R1000 by default, be it a connection fee or part of the installation fee.

We don't have claw backs, only caveat is that if you cancel in the first month you're liable for said absorption. The router is based on a free to use model, ie it never technically becomes yours but we maintain it to a certain extent as well whilst you are a subscriber.

Check coverage on our site for areas and respective FNOs.

Alright so i will start looking for coverage but iwill definiately be moving to coolideas on the 1000/100 plan. What other costs am i likely to incur? with coolideas on vumatel?only R1000? for installation and setup?

So you've decided on the area and know for sure who the FNO will be?
Not too many FNO's offer 1000mbps.

So far i am going to be limited to Vumatel. Morningside. But if i can find other safer places that has vumatel fibre that would be great. I think its only VUmatel that offers 1000Mbps

So far morningside is covered by Vumatel but not the whole of morningside is covered. Is there any way to know the exact streets? that are covered?

Hi @ngoni615 some areas have multiple Fibre Network Operators (FNO), here you should have the choice of an Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Perhaps have a look at what other consumers have to say about their experience with their ISP. Key here is to see if an ISP responds back and how the ISP resolves issues. Also have a look at supplementary services which may make your fibre journey worthwhile e.g. Remote Diagnostic mobile apps, customer dashboard where you can see your data and bandwidth usage, VoIP ready, National footprint etc. There must be value in the provider that you choose.

What about the Telkom 1TB deal?
wifi ... highly unreliable. affected by weather conditions etc.... For my use case 1tb is very low. hence fibre... I also have specific speed requirements. 100mbs minimum

Awesome. do you happen to know specific and exact areas in Durban that have fibre?

Lol you call it WiFi.

WTF is your use anyways? You backup government data every month?
I download a lot. Huge games, and my line of work also involves regular backups of around 30 Gbs every now and then and that requires fast upload speeds. So you can see why 1tb LTE is utter rubbish for my use case.

Wow every ISP there is 1star lol I am on VOX at the moment and never had any major issues with it. The issues that i had were resolved very quick. Even Coolideas has 1 star lol
