Hi guys, so I'm renovating our guest bathroom, we had the floors waterproofed with cemflex and membrane. It was done yesterday around 2pm and this morning around 9 or 10 our dog ripped the membrane of the floor mostly the edges....also the membrane was wet and after he was done in the bathroom the membrane wasn't as wet as it was before
We had some reminder cemflex in the container it came in so I followed the instructions,

(equal amounts off water and cemflex mixed with 3.4x cement)
i mixed a batch and applied it to the underside and underside corners of the membrane to allow it to stick back to the floor corners and the bottom part of the wall i then applied a layer on the topside of the entire membrane, (not the shower floor) the reminder was applied to the corners of the shower wall....I eventually realized it was drying pretty fast and was bright grey and figured that the cemflex I used may have been already diluted with water...I called the renovater and as it turns out the cemflex had finished and these guys washed there hands in the cemflex container thats why it looked like cemflex and even smelt like it....So in reality I used only WATER AND CEMENT to coat and stick the membrane back....tomorrow we have a guy tiling. Will this effect it any way?

Membrane in a shower to me is pointless.

Nonetheless, if you are worried, pop out early and get a small box of Coprox Waterproofing, mix it with Bonding liquid and brush the shower walls and floor with that.

Then insist and check that the tilers use the bonding liquid when tiling the shower.
Bonding liquid added to the tile glue ~ to be clear.

The rest of the bathroom doesn't (or shouldn't) need Waterproofing.

I never use membrane in showers, I only use Coprox.

Hope this helps....

So the plain water and cement mix won't effect the tiles?
What I was actually concerned about was the plain cement mix isn't strong when dried and adding tiles over it would mean the tiles wouldn't be very stable in the long run considering a cement mix without sand is weak.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it should be redone.... or as Manny said. Coprox.

What we don't know yet is is this a timber frame or brick dwelling?

How thick did you apply the hand wash mix on?
I wouldnt say very thick....I used about 800ml water mixed with 2.72kg cement...applied it to around 1.5 qm of floor and also the shower cube floor corners and wall corners only , It's a very small bathroom.

It was waterproofed with cemflex and membrane and left to dry 19 hours before the dog pulled it off.(mostly the sides) i mistakenly used a mixture of plain cement and water to restick it and then i coated the entire top. I'm certain it will hold up in the waterproofing department especially since it's going be tiled over....my issue is will the tiles hold up on top of a plain water and cement mix that I used to stick and coat the membrane with.

How much bonding liquid should usually be added to the tile fix/glue?

A mixture of water and bonding liquid or just bonding liquid as a water replacement?

These are most of the areas I put the cement coat. Hoping it won't be a problem

This is what the floor looked like yesterday after waterproofing and then today after the plain water and cement mix. Hopefully gives and idea on how much cement was used and how thick1000017696.jpg

I would think you'll be fine. Ask the tilers to use waterproof grouting and tile cement
