Plan for 60m Mandela face on Table Mountain

I’m by no way pro with this idea (mixing Table Mountain with Madiba), yes they can establish a separate monument to Madiba in Cape Town, but by no way on Table Mountain (on the side as suggested by the image). It also look ridiculous, how can you call it Table Mountain with a giant head on the side. It also gives the idea that Madiba is beneath the table, thus peeking out… ahem, Food-Under-the-Table.

What is wrong with these Dutch?

True. Plenty of people will pay good money to see some ugly statue provided it's Madiba. Can't see anyone else in SA attracting that kind of attention. Not even that huge Shaka they have planned for KZN. That will draw no-one.

Well, the current concept is to put his head on Devil’s Peak

The thing is though that Mandela is an anti-apartheid icon worldwide and when he was in the Presidential position he did establish unity amongst us (SA citizens) all.

My problem however is this:

1. Do not combine Madiba with a current Heritage site.
2. This is an outside perspective, go read on their press releases and Indiegogo campaign.

It seems that SA will always be behind the apartheid curtain, every other country which is guilty in similar acts keeps pointing towards us. Then it is also the Dutch… They even had an Anti-Apartheid rally last year in District 6, guilty bunch themselves.

What I highly dislike in SA, is people keeping apartheid very much alive and every cultural and sub-culture group wants to be right and having the whole pie when in turn certain authority groups have double-standards, being hypocrites and is downright criminal. SA have very little ethics, soms klomp draadsitters en saamlopers.

In the end Table Mountain is already a tourist attraction, so is Robben Island. The mentioned idea in constructing a Madiba Colossus is a more inspirational and creative idea, but will this colossus look down/over the Cape or to parts elsewhere.

Saw that and thought they would be better off with building a Sphinx with Mandela's face on it

Not Table Mountain....but Robben Island would make an ideal site for a statue of the father of the nation ....a sort of Statue of Liberty in size....

But this idea sounds much better, and considering America's statue was donated by the French, how about these Dutch make one of Mandela and donate it to SA, so that we can build a foundation/tourist facilities to place it on.

Of course we know that won't happen, because profit
