] Greetings [
]
I have been using the abovementioned modem/router (Planet ADE-4100) for a day or two now.
A few ports are left open by default. FTP, Telnet, HTTP and ports 254 and 255.
I can "Disable WAN side FTP access" with no hassles. The same does not hold true for HTTP! Even though I have set it to allow only LAN-side HTTP access (and saved+rebooted), it still leaves it open on the WAN side [xx(]
I have also scoured the interface for somewhere to turn of the WAN-side Telnet access - zip! [:0]
Ja OK no fine!
But what about ports 254 and 255 - do those serve any particular purpose? Those also seemed to be left gaping.
My temp solution for now is to "forward" any incoming data to ports 80, 23, 254 and 255 (UDP and TCP) to some bogus ip address. This seems to be working according to good ole' Gibson Research. The ports in question now come up as being "stealth'ed" - Wunderbar
Does anyone know if the router can be told not to reply to PING requests too? And if the other stuff mentioned above is a bug or just my eyesight?
Ta muchly.
