Hi All,

Please note that there is a planned Downtime for tonight from 23h00 to 06h00
The following services will be impacted for the duration – 6 hours.
ATM recharges
MMS
GPRS
Premium Rated SMS.
Apologies for any inconvinience caused.

I assume this has to do with the CellC network..
I just got an sms from CellC informing me that I might experience some inconvenience along with 10 free texts [Yay] to make up for it.

=)
 
And what do us VM customers get as compensation? ;)
 
I'm also having a Virgin downtime next week ;) LOL I'm meeting my friend M.T.N.

Seriously though, thanks for the warning. I hope it's something important, like a cell upgrade (hint).

Now this is a great start! Well done and thank you for listening to your customers. And yea, this is an inconvenience, but at least I know about it now.

I guess my GPRS is super slow tonight because everyone is overusing it NOW at this very moment. :|
 
Well the 6 hour downtime turned into 15 hours of African time. Actually I'm not 100% sure when the service came back.

Tonight I'm getting a lot of timeouts and it's pretty slooow.

Also getting lots of timeouts and it is pretty slow. Slower than yesterday night. I was still “happily” using VM GPRS up to about 12PM yesterday – deep into the deemed downtime. So this never really affected me. Unless this “downtime” of yesterday is causing these timeouts & slowness I’m experiencing now. :confused:
 
And i was hold thumbs for some kind of Cell C 3g upgrade...
 
Nope, afraid not, u will still be holding thumbs well into the future. They can't afford it!
 
Yea, we need some basic 3G coverage. Or they could just sign a agreement with VC and MTN so we could use their towers! ;)
