Plasma burn-in, can it be fixed?

Retention isn't common, nor is it an issue. Burn-in is extremely rare. Retention is usually gone within a few seconds of changing channels/screens, therefore it is a non issue for most.

Even if it did irk me, I'd much rather take plasma's superior picture quality over LCD.

Oh ok, then I guess it's burn-in, as the "images" are there regardless if I'm watching movies/series for an entire week/month/year

Maybe "ghosting" would be the correct terminology?

Because light bleed is directly related to the reason LCD will never be better than plasma or OLED - that it is backlit, meaning in order to display the darkest black, there is still light being transmitted. A plasma's self-illuminated pixels can decide whether they want o be on or off. Massive difference which is the foundation of why plasma is superior. Same reason it has much better contrast ratios (across the entire screen ;)).

But CRT trumps plasma on all of that, doesn't that make CRT superior and therefore a true enthusiast should be purchasing that.
Also light bleed is only bad if the backlight is set high, you can adjust that and get on to viewing the channel you want, instead of having to look at the ammo and health percentage left over from that game of COD earlier.

CRT is the best, but we were never offered cheap HD/FHD flat screen CRT. Of the newer technology, flat screen TVs, plasma is superior.

Huge exaggeration about CoD, after each round there are cut screens and menus which refresh the screen. Again, nice try.

Because even though it offered the best pq, cheaper, easier and lighter technology came along... This is why plasma is dead to.

Pity, at least it doesn't bother you. It's probably quite hard to tell with most other media when sitting at viewing distance?

Cheaper and easier for the manufacturer to produce inferior products and charge a premium for them too, over something that is better and cheaper.

That is besides the whole argument though. The main reason is that consumers who wouldn't know better have been misled into thinking something is better that isn't.

There were no issues for years as both flat screen technologies were in production, and consumers actually had a choice instead of having one technology forced upon them.

Only really becomes noticeable when displaying anything with black in it, plus it pretty much covers the entire bottom of my screen. I read somewhere you can fix it by running other stuff for about 20 times longer before running the culprit again. Which is great if it wasn't for the fact that I've been playing this game for just over 2800 hours already lol.

Plasma is only cheaper at the lower scale, you wouldn't see a 50" 4k plasma for less then an LCD, it is just not designed for that. 1080p was pushing it on a plasma, regardless of perceived image quality it's gone the way of the CRT. There's nothing you can do but bask in that plasma glow until you can't see anything through the haze.

Only because it's cheaper and easier for manufacturers to make 4K LCD, it's the direction they've been going for years already and where the investments have gone.

I don't really care either, picture quality from viewing distance > resolution perceivable up close. 4K is largely another marketing gimmick.

Great for computers and other screens used closer up, though.
