Hi all and thanks for your help.

We have an oldish Hisence 50K390PAD TV. We have noticed for a few months now that when watching sport with balls like rugby and so on that the picture quality is not crisp and the ball drags along the screen as a line, as if the picture does not refresh quick enough.

I can buy a used Samsung 51" TV but have read that it is a plasma TV. I don't know much about this and that is why I am asking here.
I can buy the Samsung for R4 200 but now I am in doubt if it will not be a step back.

What ±50" TV will you recommend for a budget not more than R5 000?

Thanks.

Before you buy another tv, play around with the motion settings on the hisense first. Hisense tvs are known for their bad motion processing. If it fails then you might need to get a second hand samsung on carbonite

if you can up your budget a little

Plasma screens generally last if not used as a monitor cause that causes burn. And picture quality was very good....

BUT electronics driving the screen are what fails...and most of those semiconductors are now either obsolete or hard to find.

Plasma will be better at motion for sure, but you’ll need to check that it’s all happiness before buying first.

They do tend to lose brightness over time so you want to check that especially.
