Plastic Bathroom Cabinets?

I am desperately looking for a plastic bathroom cabinet. I don't really understand the logic of having wooden cabinets in a room constantly filled with moisture in the air, but everyone else seems to understand it since that is what all the shops sell. What I thought would be a quick Saturday morning visit to Game turned into a months long frantic search in every shop and on every website... but alas.... to no avail :wtf:. Any ideas where I can purchase it? I live in Cape Town if that makes a difference. Thanks!

Most of those bathroom cupboards are laminated, aren't they? Very difficult for water to actually get to the wood (or chipboard or mdf or whatever is underneath it). How much shelf space do you need in the bathroom? If not a lot then maybe just use glass, plastic, laminate shelves rather than a cabinet?

I just use glass shelves for this. Low maintenance and easy to clean.

The SO may express a need for cabinets so that large amounts of junk can be hidden away discretely.

As saor said, the cabinets you can buy in store are laminated. The laminate itself is a type of plastic that is vacuum formed over the particle board. Water isn't really going to get in and unless you damage it (particularly the edge) it'll stay pretty dry.

Most bathrooms are actually far less humid than you think. Your kitchen, particularly above you stove can get extremely moist yet almost everyone has laminated particle board there and no one gives it a second thought.

Wooden bathroom cabinets are even better, particularly if you use a dense grain hardwood like white oak or walnut. If you finish them with a solvent based oil product and they'll outlast your lifespan without a sweat.

I don't think you'll find a 100% plastic cabinet. You'll have to get them made or consider an alternative like glass.

my wife had the same opinion when we build our house and then she went bat **** crazy and had bathroom cabinets custom made from "solid surface"

Looks great but it was terrible expensive.

if you cannot find a plastic one, i highly recommend a bamboo cabinet.. a little expensive, but is not going to care about the moisture in your bathroom at all.. i got one from builders warehouse and it is very good looking and feels solid.. had mine for 3 years now, no issue..
