I like the fact that VLC doesn't install any codecs but the interface sucks compared to others. MPC's interface is nice but it's still dependant on codecs being installed. I'm busy playing around with KMPlayer, seems to be the best of both worlds, nice interface and doesn't install codecs into the system.
