Thought I'd start a tips and tricks for Playbook owners, starting with some issues I ran into.

TIP 1: Battery Draining Too Quick

If you notice your battery is draining rather quick do the following. Open the video chat app and click on I AGREE. Apparently this cycles in the background and chews up the battery waiting for you to accept the agreement yet it never ever pops up asking you to do so. I have noticed an improvement in battery life since doing this. Also set your standby timeout to 90 seconds and not the default 5 minutes.

TIP 2: BBM does not appear in Blackberry Bridge

Update BBM on your PHONE to the latest version using Appworld.

TIP 3: Cleaning screen keeps turning the screen on.

Turn the device OFF, click the battery icon and then power off and then clean the screen. RIM needs to introduce a screen lock function in one of their future updates so that you don't have to do a full power off and restart.

Oh. I have BBM 6 Beta, and it wasn't showing up. Maybe I should downgrade.

Have you got the bridge browser working? No matter what I do, if I use the bridge browser, I get messages like "Connection refused: www.google.com:80".

Been working fine for me. What's your APN set as on your phone?

Fixed. It was a proxy setting on the BES server.

Here is another tip :) If you going to be using BRIDGE, disable your JAVA SCRIPT and FLASH, noticed sites load much faster.

The first time I used my Playbook I was going grey fast and frustrated on how long sites loaded but after I disabled the following 2 options sites load damn fast..

I am assuming this could be due to my phone I am using BlackBerry 9300 perhaps a cheap bluetooth hardware or something also noticed on other forums people are getting better speeds using the latest BB 9900

Maybe someone can help me with these two questions.

What is the LED on the front for? I've only seen it light up when charging if the PB is switched off.

Is it possible to close a BBM chat on the PB? I don't mean the whole BBM, I mean chat with 1 contact.

I'm also getting this error! ;/ I'm on Vodacom BIS though... bridge messages and bbm work fine, it's the browser that doesn't work. the apn on my phone is set to "blackberry.net" .. any help would be much appreciated

Not sure why you're having such issues with bridge. Mine worked first time on installation, no reboot needed.

Also, why do you say VC are doing the same as AT&T??

Ok, yes, I remember reading that somewhere. I'm using the standard version available in AppWorld and haven't had a problem yet. Tried a YouTube clip a couple days ago and haven't been billed as yet, but will wait for month end to make sure.
