Playbook

Hi, I have been using my PB for over a month now in SA - JHB. Great tool, nice apps. I have the 32GB wifi version and upon first use i only had like 28GB useable on it... think carefully about what you want to to before you buy the 16GB.
Ask me anything, I have been waiting a year for the launch, all my mates got IPads and i waited it out and in the end, AWESOME!

I agree, it was well worth the wait.

Rumor is that the VC stores will know by end of the month about the Prices etc. Sounds like there will be option on a data contract with a wifi router

I bought a BlackBerry PlayBook back in April when they launched and since then we have seen at least one update a month. There was a 1.07 update (July update) that went live early on Tuesday morning, but CrackBerry.com reported that it has been pulled back down and is no longer available. We also heard that the PlayBook senior product manager left for Samsung and it seems to be a frustrating time for PlayBook owners.
Full story here
So be patient ill they sort out the problems. think we are lucky to get it so late

That is great news also holding off on my upgrade, only plan on taking on a fancy new BB Bold to replace my Curve 9300 if they start selling the Playbook, come on VC pull them fingers out

Its a lame device, It doesnt benefit the SP one bit.
I woulnt sell it if I were a SP.

Wat limits are there on th PB? Will we be able to download series/movies while connected through our blackberries that have the os6? Are certain sites bloacked and charge airtime?

What a useless device.
Free internet at this speed is a joke, ill rather pay to be honest. Can't even get appworld to connect, with the bridge and the tether... Games suck, losing Bluetooth connection often, can't change music settings, laaaaame.
Ipad - winner
GT7500 - 2nd

Nowonder their shares dropped lol!!!
Don't waste your money on this device, you will regret it

Appworld only works on wifi (which could be seen as reasonable, given 3G costs).

obvious troll is being obvious.

anyway ontopic, i suspect they are going to release the PB with the new BB range of phones and the new BB phones are set to release in the states mid-august so i think end august is a fair bet. one of my mates got a PB and he got a 3G wireless card which acts as an access point and i must say the PB looks impressive i would love one, but it’s a nice to have and not a necessity for me at the moment. the flash browsing is a big hook, the Ipad doesn't do flash browsing, web browsing on the PB is awesome! same as doing it on a PC just more convenient.

MTN is not launching it, I dont think Voda should. Troll lol. you seem to be a die Hard BB fan, they going down :)
If you or anyone else knows anything about the mobile market, linking a device via bluetooth with a modem is a fail right there. its not consistant, you WILL lose connection atleast once every 30 minutes. I paired both the bridge and internet, they both the same, poor reception, just an overall fail device.
Yip app world only works on wifi which is just silly. So if you like tetris and a silly Need for Speed game that doesnt even have white paint for your car, than go for it.
Ive used all 3 now, GT7500, iPad 2. THis is by far the worst, I would put money on the LG, HTC, Hauwei and Moto Xoom to be better devices than this Playbook. they all have the same basics, HD this and HD that. So it might just all be much of a muchness, but for internet browsing, do not get the Playbook.

Yip thanks figured that out this morning. Silly though, the apps are not that big.

ARE YOU SELLING YOUR PLAYBOOK IS SO PLEASE NAME YOUR PRICE?

Not selling it, its back in it box. Irritated the hell out of me last night.
Bridge for free limited browsing.
No wifi at home, can't browse appworld.
Internet tether to use the Facebook and other apps.

3 different connections to use 3 different features on the device? Were they smoking something when they came up with this idea?
The media player has no settings, well I couldn't find any, no equaliser for music, even the movie settings are limited.
The screen is just too small, its 50% larger than a S2 screen? Its about 3"s too small IMO.
