Would these two be compatible?

The drive is SATA6 and has uses Advanced Format (AF), 4K standard.

There is a similar question on AC Ryan's forum, but it doesn't really answer the question.

It is, but if you are paranoid about it, format the drive in Windows with NTFS. If formatted in Windows 7 or Vista the sectors will be aligned. If they aren't aligned, the Seagate drive has a special firmware feature that internally "aligns" the partition with no penalty to performance.

SATA are always compatible with newer versions (eg. a SATA 1st gen controller can still use SATA 3rd gen disks, at lower speed however).

I bought quite a few of those players and drives yesterday and personally tested one before I sold it. Worked 100%
