Im looking at 3d blu ray players, how does the plastation 3 compare to any other 3D player like the samsung one that retails for R4,000 at makro?

But will there be any differance to video/audio bewteen the two? I am actully thinking of just getting a ps3.

I'm pretty sure there isn't. Maybe the standalone will look a little better due to it being dedicated to just one thing. Many people claim that standalones are smoother, but i'm not sure if it is noticeable or not.

If your PS3 doesn't have the 3D update you will need to download that, i'm sure it will already though. Also you will need to buy an HDMI cable separately with the PS3

Thanx, plus there is also the bonus of playing 3D games :D thats the thing im actully looking forward too!!

Is there no risk of burning out the optical laser on the ps3 due to over usage?

From what i have read - the PS3 plays 3D perfectly when tested on many different TV's but, the sound apparently is downgraded from for e.g., Dolby 5.1 HD to normal Dolby 5.1 - and yes there is a big difference between the two.
The PS3 supports HDMI v1.3 where as 3D uses v1.4.
Or it could be just an update required.

What TV u looking at.
