Hi

Can anyone PLEASE advise / help me to choose the right generator? I've read quite a lot of threads but I'm still not sure.

I want to power the following during load shedding:

My stuff:

55" LED TV
PlayStation 4
WiFi router

Wife and daughter:

52cm TV (old school one)
DVD player

Son:

40" LCD TV
Xbox 360

I was looking at the Honda EU20i but cannot find it in stock anywhere in Pretoria now. Also, the R14000 price tag bugs me, a lot.

At Chamberlain they sell the Powermaster 2.5kva inverter generator for R6999. Now that's more in my price range.

But now MOST IMPORTANTLY, will my TV, PS4 and all the other stuff mentioned be fine AND STAY FINE???? The genarator is 100% pure sine wave (or so it says at it's specs).

To be honest, I have a Chinese 2.5kVa ex Ardendorf. I run all my TV monitors and PCs off this, and no problems - yet.

I spose, if you want to be sure to be sure, you could invest in an AVR unit, Clearline in Joburg stock these, and I would guess you looking at around R2000 - R3000 for certainty.

The idea of course, is to start the genny, then plug in all the appliances.

Thanks for the reply.

If I understand it correctly, a pure sine wave inverter generator does actually regulate the voltage and then gives "clean" power. Will the AVR unit you're refering to then still be needed?
