Hi everyone on the forums:

I have iburst for quite awhile now (approximately 6 months) and I am an regular reader of my adsl forums about iburst.

However, due to work load i have not been able to read the forums as much as I would liked to. So here is my question:

What happens to your connection when you have reached ur cap of 3 Gig?

I have heard 4 possibilities:

1. You will be throttled to 64K unlimited.
2. You will be throttled to 64K to the maximum of 3 Gigs
3. You will be completely cut off (cannot even connect) after you reach your cap unless you buy extra bandwidth.
4. You will be liable to pay per bite/byte/gig after you reach your target.

If the fourth possiblity are your answer, how much do I have to pay per bite/byte or gig?

Thanks alot

Hello

Some people like myself get throttled to 64kbps... others of late have mentioned the serivce is suspended and the only site accesible is iburst.co.za. I have not reached cap in the last 2 months because the service has been unreliable for me and my downloads didn't work.

I would say that possibility number 3, would be closest the truth

Welcome to MyADSL Tagiton ;) ,

Number one here...get 64 kbit unlimited.

Just phoned. option 1 is wbs's answer

Thank you all for your reply.. much is appreciated :)

It seems like there is a mix of opinions but i take what WBS says... unlimited 64k :D

Option 3 is the problem that WBS are aware of but are still trying to resolve ... to be fair it does seem a priority ... my connection is being battered to attempt finding a solution...

So official would be 1 but 3 happens quite often...

My worry is that no matter how hard they try maybe they wont be able to solve it. I'm guessin one of two things is happening ...

(a) They're having equipment problems (i.e. something is not performing up to the vendor's advertised specification)
(b) The bandwidth mgmt architecture is inherently flawed to begin with, and is now reaching its limits of scalabilty as more users climb on every month

As they've been trying to figure out this problem for a while now, my concern is that (b) is starting to seem more likely? regardtv, any chance you can quiz the techies to enlighten us to what the situation really is?

option 3 is the one wbs are not well aware of and if you phone them you'll know why, even if you get put through to the manager he says the same, basically most of the tiem you'll just be throttled to 64k but strange stuff happens and you can't tell if its purposfull or just a bug in a floppy system
