PLEASE EXPLAIN?

"Zille said on Monday that besides the seven convicted criminals on the ANC's national executive committee (NEC), six NEC members are currently the subject of criminal investigations. At least two of these are currently being investigated by the Scorpions."

Why does this not bother people? What does it say about your party?

Larrychang, could you please reply to the post above?

what an oxymoronic comment,
do you even know what you are trying to say?
Yes I do actually from what I understood you were saying in your post was that because the ANC is corrupt we should all be corupt.

If the ANC wants to lead like that it's only going to make it more acceptable to be corrupt, it doesn't mean everyone is going to be corrupt. In the context of what was said yes, ANC leaders may be corrupt, hence why so many ANC politicians are corrupt.

so we are all going to be (or are) corrupt.
the ANC (corrupt) leads SA, not just a portion of it.

Eventually yes, if corruption becomes endemic it will become so because it is condoned from the highest levels of government. And the voters are putting these guys back in power. As if to say:" well done comrade, have another go at it"

The sooner we get a constituency-based political system going in SA, the sooner things will change for the better.

I am in no way saying the entire ANC and all its supporters are corrupt. But why are the good ones letting this happen?

Oh, I didn't realise it warranted a response.

you will notice the "I think..." at the end of my comment above.
i did so because I only know of 2 convicts on the NEC (Winnie & Tony). I then perused the M&G article & sure enough, the 6 convicts are not listed. Note that the 6 convicts is a comment my madam Zille (I am not saying she's wrong) - who has an uncanny ability to exaggerate things where the ANC's crimes are involved - 783 charges anyone?

Actually I was more concerned about the second part of the post, because what does it matter whether they have two or five convicted criminals on there. Why do they have Any? and why is this acceptable?

As far as I understand, the 783 charges comes from the amount of seperate payments made to Zuma by Shaik. If each is counted as a charge of curruption I believe the statement is correct. Care to disprove this?

You are indeed correct. Why is why it has been dubbed a "generally corrupt relationship" as that comment would seem to encompass all those bribes.

Oh, I see...
It bothers me that the ANC tacitly approves of corruption.
However, they are not my party if that's what you imply.

I know this will come back to haunt me, but I voted not-ANC...

Surely you mean mutually beneficial symbiosis? :D

Oh s**t! My bad, yes a "mutually beneficial symbiosis". You bribe someone to benefit you by giving you business and you benefit by having R4million tax free in your bank account.

Manto Tshabalala-Msimang? Stealing from patients in Botswana.
Baleka Mbete? Fraudulent drivers licence.

Off the top of my head

And now you come to the point many DA and Cope supporters are actually trying to make when they portray the average ANC supporters as 'uneducated' and 'sheep'. Because, the inference is that any educated person would not want a corrupt individual or an organisation that rewards such individuals with positions at the top of their organisations(thereby approving of their actions) handling their affairs or their money.

Yes the ANC has done a lot of good. But until they clamp down on their corrupt comrades and stop rewarding behaviour that has no place in a country like ours(Paul Mashatile spends almost R200 000 in one setting at a fancy french restaurant on his government credit card and two years later he's the candidate for Premier for Gauteng) they will always have my scorn.

Wow, people reading this in 2013-2014 amongst other revived threads from early '09 must be finding some interesting reading to say the least. If only we know what you know now.

It was R96K.
And you deliberately made it sound like that was personal expenditure.
If I'm not mistaken it was for a year end function for the department.

yeah, an UNAPPROVED year end function ....... and 200K or 96K, it's still a vulgar amount of money to blast when we have the poverty we do in SA.

Mashatile is no stranger to controversy. He made news headlines in 2006 when he spent nearly R100 000 on a dinner at the posh Auberge Michel restaurant in Sandton. He allegedly used his government credit card to entertain colleagues from the economics and treasury departments and the Gauteng Shared Services Centre.

Mashatile reportedly spent more than R250 000 on restaurant bills in the five months from February to June in 2006.

Mashatile said he spent:

# R480 at Ritrovo restaurant in Pretoria; R17 183,50 on two visits to Auberge Michel; and R1 900 at Pigalle in January;

# R2 641,45 on two visits to Auberge Michel and R12 297 at Pigalle in March;

# R2 030,95 at The Butcher and Grill in April;

# R5 409,90 on one sitting at Beverley Hills in Durban and R3 720,20 on a single visit to Auberge Michel in May; and

# R99 810,40 on two visits to Auberge Michel and R85 at Palazzo Mede in June.

Go on JungleBoy, you were saying?

that's fscking disgusting ......... watch how the likes of JungleBoy will now either be quiet or spout some rubbish about 'the media misquoting again' ;)

96K divided by 200 employees amounts to R480 per person.
nothing sinister about that, now let's move along
