Please fix

Breathe brother - hopefully you get sorted. multiple cases/threads of speed drops and service degradation. and not all of them have a happy ending..

Man I am so fed up...............grrrrrrrrrrrr
I should not have asked them for help since that guy touched it the connection is just non existent. You cant complain with your 300mb -You must be grateful each day as some of us are struggling to get 50mb.

Before I took out the service I did do some research and was well aware of all the complaints and issues. So in the back of my mind I am weary it can happen to me.

I was rocking 10mbps adsl so even a bad day would be better than what I had for not much more tha. I was paying for adsl. But yes I'd be pissed too. Touch wood I haven't had issues yet.

Next week I'm getting a fibre line for loadbalancing and failover.

Nice my honest review is that line of sight plays a major role if your connection will be good -if your in a middle of a complex you have troubles like in my case -Im gonna do the roof Monday so just hoping -the sites 1km from me must be a line of sight issue as before I asked for help I managed to get 50mbs/2-4mb upload. You are very fortunate but adding fiber is very costly on top of premium -but I understand what you say with fail proof as Tower technology is certain less stable than fiber and you are bound to get issues when a tower go down. Have you mounted yours on the roof ? Your speed is crazy your very fortunate buddy. Anyways hope I will get more joy by Monday

They are rolling out a 'cheaper' fibre model in my area. It's cheap but no choices on speeds and limited ISPs. Some restrictions to accessing the router as well. Its 399 for 20/10 line so you cant fault them on that...

Yes I have it mounted outside. I have a thread on my network setup and experience thus far

Yes try the mounting. Get a nice long lan cable to move to different spots if possible.

Thats definitely a great offer and that makes perfectly sense. Nice let me go get pointers from you. I dont get that blue dot in optimize which are odd -do you perhaps know if it was taken away?. Just done another speed test that guy have done something hectically the upload isn't even working. So much for R1000 premium

Ok this make me think that tower is congested this is the best I normally get - 4h00 in the morning. In peak that tower get hammered as I could barely upload yesterday 4pm -11pm. Sorry for accusing that poor guy it seems it was a congested tower -Rain your towers are congested in peak times by the look of things @rain_mobile @rain_networks

Keep doing tests. Some points below:

1. Post your signal stats so we can see what your signal is like.

2. Try moving the router around the house preferably to a window in direction of tower. Higher is not always better. Get a long lan cable and enjoy the sun outside...

3. The router is highly sensitive in my case. Slight movement of few centimetres made big differences in speed.

4. One I got good signal I tried flipping through the 1-10 antenna options in the system section of the cpe.

Very good advice thank you - Im getting a 3m pole today Im gonna take a ladder and test outside -The best I got is the speed tests above and that is from inside the house close to the window. Whats weird for me it seems Im getting the best signal from the 2.94km tower But if you notice the tower on the same route 1.16 it ignores and connects to 2.94km - This boggles my mind logic would say that is the tower I must use the 1.16km one.Hopefully someone from rain can sort that out. I will do the ladder and pole today and see if it will change towers and any improvement -another guy on a video said if you use their 10m cable the signal degrades. Nad _Isa are you using their 10m cable or are you using your own ethernet cable? Here are my signal strength and the tower.......notice how it ignores the 1.16km tower and connect to the 2.94km tower attached

I am using my own ethernet cable. I didnt use theirs so csnt comment on whether it affects anything.

My dashboard looks the same. I dont have as many towers showing up. The reasons why it doesn't lock onto certain towers could be due to multitude of reasons that only RAIN can answer. What I can think of is rain would bump people to towers if things like congestion are a factor or there are issues in towers. I dunno.

Your signal stats look a bit weak for 5g to me. If you compare that to mine.. @cavedog @powermzii ?

Yes its weak 3/5 bars so you are right and it ignores the close tower and connects to the 2.94km tower -In a Middle of a complex dont help either sadly

Very weak signal you are going to struggle with that. I think the cpe is being generous to show 3 bars honesty

Wont a mount outside help ? Keep in mind its inside close to a window -what must the stats be for a strong signal can you post yours please -I just want to get a understanding......the lower the stronger the signal ?

Yes mounting it will definitely help hey. The main issue with 5G is the terrain. The signal is much weaker on the 3.5GHz band compared to LTE.

If you take the - into consideration then higher is better. If you take away the - then lower is better. I get around -79dB signal intensity and Quality is about 7-10dB. Gives me between 250-350Mbps depending on time of day.

Dude you're literally across the road (Atterbury) from me... I'm connecting to the tower opposite Menlyn Maine dome (the one by the putt putt + virgin active gym)

Then you are the right person to talk to powermzii buddy -I think Like Cavedog said my terain is Crappy -Im picking up a 3m pole today as my signal is pretty poor behind FaerieGlen Hospital What speed do you get and what distance are you from the tower ? Do you have clear line of sight - I think Im in a ditch perhaps

Thanks Cavedog for the info.Thats a very nice speed you getting.

So i still haven't mounted mine - its indoors next a window pointing in the general direction of the tower. I get between 120 and 280 Mbps in general. Was going to see if i can mount today but i got lazy. Your device should be connecting either to my tower (Menlyn Maine), the one across Justice Mahlangu or the one by Woolies Atterbury

Definitely get that pole and see if it helps - have you managed to try just getting the router on the roof (even without line of sight)
