So I got a NVIDIA 8800GT 512 256bit Chaintec brand yesterday.
Also had to get a 500W powersupply since my 360W wasn't enough.

This is the steps I took.
1. Removed my old powersupply and 6600GT.
2. Started up with my onboard graphics and new PS. Removed all Nvidea drivers.
3. Carefully installed 8800GT. Powered up.
4. I have a normal CRT monitor so I have to use the DVI to VGA adapter.
5. My monitor just stays dead. It's as if the 8800GT doesn't work.
6. If I connect to the onboard VGA my monitor comes to life.
7. Also the Device Manager doesn't pick up any new hardware. And the annoying "windows has detected new hardware" doesn't happen.
8. I do have a unknown device in my device manager, but it was there before I installed the 8800GT.
9. Then if I run the "Install Graphics driver" from the cd. I get the "NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware"

What can I do? I have to save an archeological team from the Koreans and I have to find out what the story is with those frozen, flying robot things.
Help is needed.

Why don't they say that in the installation manual then? (damn chinese)

I just thought that cable thingy was if you want to SLI.
Does the card not get power through the PCI-E slot?

hehe, i sometimes forget to plug in the 4-pin cpu connector then i always go  for a second when the screen doesn't come on.

I think I should fake a stomache ache or something. If I leave now I can be home before 12:00
