It sounds quite odd, I know but for past 10 minutes all folders on my XP based pc have been set to Read-Only. If I right-click on one of the folders and try to chage the read settings it automatically returns to a read only state.
I'm thinking this is:
1. Problem with user. There is some kind of setting on my C: which has switched the thing to read only. But what? No idea about this. Also, I see that the same problem is happening with a backup drive called F: So it's not likely, I guess to be some kind of silly setting . . . so
2. I have a virus or something else has made the machine go mad. I've had AVG Free Edition running permanently (the new version). Am running a scan right now and although it has not found any viruses yet, it does mention something about kernel32.dll and shell32.dll with the "Result/Infection" set to "Change"
Can anyone help fix this problem?
