I thought it was going to be easy but alas - the last mile is always the hardest!

After 2 months waiting for Helkom they finally installed my adsl line today.

I can not connect to the internet.

Al LED lights on the Billion 5102S front is illuminated constantly. I can ping the modem/router on 192.168.1.254

Browsing the modem/router on http://192.168.1.254 I have setup the following:
Wizzard setup: Page 1
Mode - routing
Encapsulation - PPPoE
Multiplex - LLC
VPI - 8
VCI - 35

Wizzard setup Page 2
Service name - webafrica
Password - *****
IP Address - Obtain automatically
Connection - Nailed up
Network address translation - Many to one

Test page
LAN connections - Pass
Wan connections - Everything pass exept : Test ADSL(ATM OAM) loopback test Fail

Am I on the right track? What else do I need to do?

I admit I don't know much - please help me

Thanks

double clicking on the internet is a BAD idea:P its amazing how many people still make this n00b mistake.

Problem sorted!!

Thanks to you guys and Jason from Webafrica.

Off to Battlefield I go!:)

Just a help for anyone in the future that gets this problem. Remeber if you have opted for the self install option with Telkom, you will be able to connect , but not able to browse any other website, other than www.telkom.co.za . What you need to do is, once your router is setup, you need to go to www.telkom.co.za/verifyadsl and confirm your details to open up your port in the exchange in order for you to have full internet access :)

They say it takes 30 minutes , but it normally takes a router reboot :) its an automated process, so it does not matter when you do it :P
