please help:{ cell c e160 max 20kbps??

using mobile partner (16.001.06.01.500) i seem to only be able to get an edge connection that is quite intermittent are there any setting i can change to speed up and make my connection reliable?

(at the moment apn=internet,wcdma is preferred and the last network select option 900/???/2100)

if i plug the e160 modem into a d100 router i can get a connection speed of 20kbps but no more.

If i use my mtn or vodacom sim on mobile partner it shows hsdpa immediately and i connect quite fast.if i use the mtn or vodacom sim in my router again it connects quite fast.

please let me know what i am doing wrong on my cell c settings.

no worries i also made that mistake at first alo checked on the cellc website and they do confirm the e160 should work on umts900
 
Can you perhaps try the sim in a phone that is 900MHz utms capable and see if you get 3g?
 
thanks for the advice Park.

put the sim card in a sony c903 (http://www.omni-phone.com/sony-ericsson-c903-cell-phone/)

it shows the small H in the top left so it looks like it is doing hsdpa
connecting it to my laptop (both still plugged into mains) using Sony eric suit lets me download at >150kbps...
so it is alot faster.

-cant be the e160 i am using as other users on here and the cellc website confirm it is capable of umts 900
-cant be i am in a week signal area else the c903 would not be able to download at 150kbps

means there must be something wrong with my software configuration or somehow my e160 modem is prevented from going to cellc umts900??
 
downloaded cellcs own dashboard software and used it instead of mobile partner and still only displays edge with a extremely weak signal
