Hey guys! I'm looking for a cheap AM3+ motherboard from around R500-R850? It needs to have USB 3.0, 16gb or more max memory, SATA 3, on board video would be great but not needed, 4 memory slots. It has to be in Johannesburg and not second hand please!

Try Sybaritic

I've tried, the cheap ones are out if stock. But if I can't find anything i'll be willing to wait

Also thanks for the link. See the problem is I have seen many good motherboards, the problem is just stock. But I'll call or email them to see

Oh thanks! How much do you reckon it would cost to ship to Johannesburg? Total including mobo and the other chip.
Also how would I connect the chip? Will there be space for 2x4gb memory and a graphics card?

You can either collect from them in Fourways North, Johannesburg: http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=contact_us

Or pay R80 for them to send it to you via courier.

You can connect the chip in one of two slots on the motherboard which is either above or below where the graphics card will go, you most likely will have to connect it to the slot above the graphics card depending if your graphics card takes up two slots or not. (I still recommend you connect it to the top slot so as not to hinder airflow to the graphics card) The motherboard supports 2x4GB memory.

Here is the motherboard product page: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A78LM_LX_V2/
Here are the specifications: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A78LM_LX_V2/#specifications

So the only thing you will not have is SATA 3, you can however also purchase a card for that: http://www.rebeltech.co.za/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3376

You really don't need it if you don't make use of a SSD though, SATA 2 is more than enough for hard drives. You could possibly get this later on when/if you purchase a SSD for your Pc.

Yes I'm not buying an SSD yet, also the graphics card uses two slots

You won't be able to connect a SATA 3 card then, unless you sacrifice the USB 3 card. If you connect the SSD to a SATA 2 port it will only work at half it's potential speed, which is still much faster than a hard drive.

So you have to choose USB 3 or SATA 3. :D

Personally I would rather get the SATA 3 card.

I'm not really planning on getting an SSD for a very long time so I'd rather take the USB 3. Also please explain how I'll put it in because my graphics card takes 2 slots.
If I do get the USB 3.0 card will I be able to remove it and use the SATA 3 card?

You connect the USB 3 card to the slot indicated:

You will be able to remove the card and swap it for the SATA card when needed.

The slot you indicated, next to it is the graphics card right? And next to that is another one of the slot you indicated to can I not use it for SATA 3?

Because it takes up two slot spaces.

The slot you indicated, next to it is the graphics card right?

Yes.

And next to that is another one of the slot you indicated to can I not use it for SATA 3?

No you won't be able to as the graphics card will be in the way of it.
