Please I need help!!! Hello to everyone, I have been a member of this forum for a while but I haven't posted much for some time.

I bought a new Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (LTE) phone and am using it with a Pre-paid Vodacom Sim-card (I am not a contract cell phone subscriber). I was told that if I want to use this device with a pre-paid simcard, then I would have to have the LTE function/feature disabled as this function is mainly available only for contract subscribers. I agreed and the feature was disabled, so that the phone functions like a 3G handset.

Now the phone works fine. I can make and receive calls; set up email accounts, send and receive emails; I can send and receive pictures via Bluetooth; I can also get onto the internet. The biggest problem though is that it is difficult to set it up to receive and send MMS messages, including electronic business cards.

I tried Vodacom Customer Service Call Centre - they sent me mms settings via sms and asked me to install and save them. It didn't work. One of the Vodacom Call Centre people went step-by-painful-step with me to set it up manually for MMS. It failed to work. I took the phone to the Vodacare Repair Store at the Cresta (Jhb) Shopping Mall over two days, and the software technicians there have given up - they tried everything over two days and nothing worked.

I called the Samsung Customer Service Call Centre (tel: 0860 726 7864), and all they could do was to tell me that they are using the same Vodacom MMS settings that I had already tried and failed with. They then suggested that I should take the phone to their repair centre (located all the way in Boksburg - I live in the Westrand - I feel this is a waste of my time and money - I paid nearly R9000 for this phone, the least I expected was that it would be in a working condition with simple things like sending and receiving SMS messages).

It looks like the problem has to do with the LTE function. Even though this feature/function has been deactivated on this phone, it seems that it continues to interfere with the MMS settings. Every time the Vodacom MMS settings are inserted and saved, the phone loses these settings and replaces them with Lte settings (or the Vodacom MMS settings are suddenly pre-fixed with Lte notations).

Is there anyone out there in South Africa who has this phone and is able to send or receive MMS messages, including electronic business cards? Can you help me set up my phone to receive and send MMS messages?

thanks.

You need packet data enabled to send an MMS, with is HSPA+ on 3G, and I would suppose the same on your Note 2.

When there is no LTE reception, your phone will drop back to HSPA+, or 3G, then EDGE, GPRS.

*I somehow remember that Vodacom prepaid customers do not have LTE access yet, but Vodacom will launch it soon.

If that doesn't work, get yourself WhatsApp and send all your pics with it. It's SO much cheaper than using MMS!

i have the same problem and mine is not the LTE version. my phone is always on wifi and for me to mms i need to go into the data packet for 3G to send and recieve. doesnt seem to work with wifi

I have the N7100 normal non lte version note 2 from cellc and even if I am connected to wifi and send a mms or recieve a mms it automatically enables the data connection to send/recieve the mms but still stay connected to the wifi
