Please help...Internet messed up

I'm not sure what the problem is, i'm having internet connection issues, i keep having to refresh to get the page loaded, most of the time it wont load and i have to repair the wireless connection from the taskbar, even after that the page will load but not completely.

Wireless connection bridged through a router
IE8, google chrome, firefox(all have the same problem)
I am about 1m away from the modem, so it cant be signal.

It gets extremely annoying, it took me a while to even get to this forum from having to keep refreshing to get somewhere.

I was using Windows Vista and changed to XP.
Strangely Skype stays online right through no problems at all.

Are you using ADSL or iBurst ?

i'm using ADSL, mweb account, 512kps.

i refreshed about 5 times now just to reply

ping your router for about 4 or 5 min to see if u are losing connection... also with Iburst if the MTU is not set correct will do what you say is happening. Not sure for ADSL though...

No packet losses thus far, but with Vista i never had this problem.

ok wait, i can ping the router but not the wireless adapter. times out on the adapter

is the adapter controlled by your O.S or its own utility ?

by the OS, the utility installed is the Dell wireless utility but for the laptops wireless adaptor

Don't use Microsofts built in wireless control, rather use the software that comes with the adapter.

ok i will try that but lets just say i connect the router directly to the laptop using a network cable, the problem shouldn't continue right?
