A black hole in the universe - JHB
Hi guys so I am monitoring my usage on City power, Jhb daily
I am using on average 20-25 KW (is that the correct term or KWH?) per day.
Based on this, what would the monthly costs be ?
I cant find how to work out the different bands of costs.

Many thanks

That would be dependent on where you are. Different municipalities have different tarriff bands. It would probably also differ if you are in some sort of a complex, who'se structures could be other than those of the local municipality.
For Johannesburg (City Power), the tarrif structures can be seen below:

According to your information, you use up to750 KWh per month. Your first 500 "units" will be at R201.63 per "unit" and the next 250 will be at R231.4 per unit.

Is this vat inclusive?

Probably not. Our local municipality's published costs on their website are VAT exclusive. I do not think I have seen a structure that was VAT inclusive, but may be wrong about that.

+1.

Check your tariff and your buying history. Both impact what you pay for each kwh bought during the month.

Roughly R2400 after 10% meter service fee and 15% VAT

Assuming 775 total units.

350 units @ R2.1
150 units @ R2.4
225 units @ 2.74

Times 15% VAT
Time 10% Meter Fee??

Resets on the 1st of each month. So just like tax is calculated on the tax year, tarrifs are calculated on total in the month.

There is no metering service on prepaid, what you see is what you pay + VAT
