I was downloading Windows 8, came to 98% the connection went slow so i decided to stop and start. To find that my airtime had run out and the url was changed to a "8ta run out of money url"....my 2.6gb became a 8kb file.

Hard to believe, thou im trying to stay calm. Using Opera. Can I find this file...tried windows search with no results.

I hate 8.ta...hate this :(

Eish... With Opera downloads... if the site does not support resume, and you click on resume, it is gone.

Rather use a download manager for rather large files.

Eish.

I can post you a copy of my 64bit Windows Consumer Preview DVD... if it helps ? Just because you use Opera...

PM me if you want a copy.

And Eish...

Opera is my browser of choice, BUT the one thing that REALLY needs to be re-written from scratch is the download "manager". It does not create a tmp file of a download, but a single file that is often rendered useless by the resume "feature" of the Opera "manager".

It works ... IF the url remains unchanged and IF the server is recognised as a resumable download source. I have learned the hard way... I use Free Download Manager (FDM) for big downloads, it overcomes all of Opera's download failings. I even use Firefox for large, panic ridden downloads... it recovers better than Opera does... and it at least uses a tmp download file that sometimes can be located and resumed if it fails.

Opera's download thingy is just a fail.

I still love it as a browser tho'.

Thanks for the infor and will do....I just cant believe that a 2.6gb file can become couple kb's in seconds without a trace.

Id just have to use the night cap and resume 2mw with the rest.

My Hope in myBB LIVES ON

Before you carry on get a download manager, free internet download manager is good.

Don't use browsers to download large files.
