PLEASE HELP! PC TROUBLES

Hey guys.

My PC keeps rebooting itself. When it starts back up I get a 'The System has recovered from a serious error' message in Windows XP.

Error Signature:

What am I dealing with here (hardware issues or a virus?) and how do I solve it?

this happened to me 2 or 3 times a few weeks ago ..... had no idea what the problem was

I had the same as well, upgraded the system bios and all was fine again.

Also update your display card drivers. Do you have an ATI card?

aah yes, video drivers fixed it up

I've never seen that error before but:

Got to COntrol Panel->SYstem->advanced->startup&recovery and switch off the option that says reboot on error. That way you can get a better look at the error.

this could be anything really
i saw that type of error on a symantec av update ones
but the first thing to do is try and update the graphics drivers
and maybe install xp sp3
could be some prog in your startup ( msconfig )

I had the same issue with my machine awhile back - Turned out to be a bum motherboard unfortunately....70% of the time random rebooting is caused by a hardware fault and generally it is the MB that is dead.

If it is not the video drivers... get hold of a copy of Ultimate Boot CD or Hiren's Boot CD and run some RAM tests.
