Hi all

I have recently moved into my first place :D. The previous owner had a non pvr setup.

So what i did was remove the old LNB and replace it with a Samsat twin lnb. Taking care to not move the dish and marked the position of the old lnb.

I then connected it to my new pvr decoder.

But when i turn on the decoder it asks me to press ok for installation which i did. I have scanned for signal and it keeps telling me there is a problem with my installation. Under info the signal is 0%

But i cannot see why.

I now have bought a SatLink satellite finder and for the dish position i get 99 and 88. and for the lnb position i get 76 and 60. Im not to clear as to what these figures mean but i understand the higher they are the better.

am i doing anything wrong? please help thanx

Are you getting these figures at the LNB end or the decoder end of the cables?

Hi its from the LNB side.

Has anyone used one of these before?

I presume that you had the sat finder between the PVR and the LNB with a short piece of cable between the finder and the LNB? The PVR supplies the voltage to the LNB. 0% signal is what it means, no signal at all coming from the LNB that can be detected at the PVR.

Suggest check:

Switch on the buzzer on the finder. Wave your hand in front of the LNB. Does the buzzer alter in pitch?
Gently move the dish from side to side. Does the buzzer pitch alter? Do the same vertically
Is the LNB cables connector pointing to 4.30 (153 deg)?
Are the f-connectors both sides clean, in other words no whiskers of the shield wire touching the centre cable
Is there 5-6mm of centre conductor sticking out of the f-connector
Is the f-connector attached to LNB in on the PVR?

I couldn't get my DSTV running it said that my signal strength was 0 on both my lnb's. I turned it off at the plug and on again and then I got a good signal on 1 but nothing on 2. Swapped my cables around and independently and each one of the two got signal but when I plug in both it just got one. Then I factory reset the decoder and that sort it out. So just check all the possibilities.
