Hi guys,
I applied for a 512 adsl line about 1 year ago, it has still not been installed. At first I was told it would take 2 weeks for them to activate my line, I was then told that my exchange didn't have enough ports or something along those lines. They told me that it would 4-6 weeks for them to upgrade the exchange. I have checked the Telkom website and it says that my exchange supports adsl. I have logged over 50 calls to the call center, and have sent numerous e-mails... I was never rude to any of the staff at the call center, but each one seems to give me a different story... If anyone could offer some assistance it would be greatly appreciated... Thanks
 
Good luck, it took Telkom almost 3 years to get me ADSL and a phone line. They should send someone out to check the exchange if there is an open port, they told me there wasn't any open ports, but I got ADSL... eventually.
 
Well I must be on the flip side of Telkoms service .
I applied for a Telkom line on the 17th June 2010 . The line was installed on the 24th June (1 week later), as they told me to apply for the line first and then the ADSL (once the line was installed) . I then went to a Telkom Direct shop on Friday last week (25th June) to apply for the Closer 3 package as well as the adsl package .
Guess what on Monday (1 day later) my ADSL is up and running .

Mine also took about a week. Ordered adsl and phone line together though. Just took one call.
 
You thought if Telkom's revenue was slipping they would be adding DSLAM's at an alarming rate seeing as there is a port shortage at almost every exchange. And a massive backlog of pending ADSL installations. Dumb blonds’ they are
 
Provide reference number & first 6 digits of phone number, you might just get helped if you provide the relevant info...

Its really irritating considering that my friend has a perfectly running 4meg line and he only lives 1 street away from me.

Thats the original ref number I have written down...

I tried to re-apply for the service some time ago and was given this reference number: 24230

You are still embryo stage. Phone them with your ref number and demand an ORDER number!
 
Got the order number, its: 727419\42
They said that it would take another week but I find that rather hard to believe...

Nope, once you an order number things go much faster.

Whatever you do, when they phone you to make an appointment do not cancel it!!! Then you will really wait!
