My daughter wants temporarily use her old curve again till she gets another phone.

the old phone was on telkom mobile from day one.
Now she got a new small sim, she did put that big thing around it.
The curve 8250 [very basic ] starts, see only vodacom as network. Try to go manual and auto, but the curve only see vodacom.

The sim was tested in another phone and there it works. [s4 samsung]. Is the sim to fast/big for the bb.
I did google and lots of these problems with no solutions that work.

Just got a new sim from TM. I was wondering if the new sim might be to big / modern for the BB. The sim does work in a S4.

Look likes that, but this phone was issued by TM.

Also on google, few people got this very same problem.

Try this, settings-> Advanced settings menu -> Host Routing Table -> BB button -> Register now.

Give it 15 min then battery pull.

To get a blackberry to work after a sim change the SP has to make changes. Phone them.

Firstly, When using the Blackberry 8520. Make sure you are using the correct SIZE SIM card. every device only allows for a certain size. (NANO -- MICRO --- MINI --) Smallest - Biggest

If I'm correct my 8520 uses a Mini sim.

Secondly, there is no speed differences between sim cards. There is just a difference in size. i would say use a 16k, 32k or 64k sim card with the 8520 and no bigger (might not support)

Thirdly, I would suggest you take the device into vodacom and ask for a new Sim and ask them to connect you.

Sorry I'm not much help, but at least you have some more info on the topic, best of luck with your daughters problem, hop it gets sorted. I own a Blackberry 8520 and i still love it.

We put the sim in a old nokia x1 and it works. Put it back in the BB and edge+ full signal, but no connection.

So for now she will use the old nokia.
