I have an Afrihost backup account and am trying to switch from MWEB. Apparently Afrihost at least have a plan for their customers.

I have put the new detau\ils into my Billion800VGT router, flushed the DNS, renewed the IP's of my adapter etc.... even set back to factory settings and rebooted many times.

I keep getting an MWEB landing page telling me I have put in an incorrect username/password and cannot connect to anything.

How do I make these pests go away ? Are they blocking users from switching ISP's ?

I think MWEB locked your router to their network. Ask them for the unlocking code, if that is possible.
Legislation forbids that telecoms instruments be locked to networks. Maybe that will sway them.
I stand to be corrected.

/me takes cover

Thx but they tell me they don't and can't do that but Afrihosy says they can and have.
Phoned MWEB again and they say they definitely have not locked my router to their network.

No matter which other ISP I try I keep getting an MWEB landing page saying i have put incorrect details into the router. Rebooted 1 million times, flushed the dns, cleared the cache, reset to factory defaults etc over and over.

Anyone able to offer help ?

I am guessing here, way out of my experience this is, but, have you perhaps hard-coded the domain name servers that you use somewhere?
Check in the TCP/IP settings of the computer that you are using and on the router that there is no hard coded DNS 1 or DNS 2 servers set.

Thx Dave ... checked in the router and on the IPv4 setting of my adapter.
All are set to obtain DNS automatically
