I have a weird problem......my line drops when someone phones in or out, yes have tested a couple of port filters. A telkom tech came out and also tested on his test filter.

Here are my router stats:

Showtime Firmware Version: 3.30
Line State: SHOWTIME
Modulation: G.dmt
Annex Mode: ANNEX_A
Startup Attempts: 8
Max Tx Power: -38 dBm/Hz
CO Vendor: UNUSED_VENDOR_0
Elaspsed Time: 1 days 12 hours 8 minutes 2 seconds

Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin 30.1 9.0 dB
Line Attenuation 33.8 31.5 dB
Errored Seconds 684 5441
Loss of Signal 7 7
Loss of Frame 0 0
CRC Errors 318 2069
Data Rate 384 128 kbps
Latency FAST FAST

Its works fine I can surf , play games .etc but as phone rings connection drops. The telkom tech said he wasn't sure and thought it was the port on the dslam and said he would have it changed and left. Now nothing has changed so don't know if he has changed port, but line still drops

Any sugestions ????? When I get telkom out again what must I get them to check ??

Also I see alot of CRC errors, what does this mean ???

Last thing, was thinking of upgrading to 512 or faster will this be possible on my line ??

Thanks

Your line stats (noise margin and att.) arent bad but I see those errors and that doesnt look good. Not a techie though so I cant point out the cause or suggest much.

I had a similar problem, tried evrything. One day my fax machine got hit by lightning, nothing else was damaged but I was forced to disconnect fax machine and heypresto no more disconnections when the phone rings.

I have not gotten around to reparing or replacing the fax yet.

I had seen this type of prob at clients b4, usually its got to do with a damaged lighting / surge protector. You should probably try disconnecting everything on the line and remove the lighting protector that came with the modem, then try again.
