Hi all, i went away in december, and when i came back i found that my modem wasn't working, i think it was struck by lightning, so i changed power supply and got it back up and running... But the problem now is that my internet and phone line keep getting cut out... I stay in the edenvale area, and im wondering if anyone is experiencing the same problem.... Thanks
 
I am in Eden Glen opposite the Action Cricket. No problems on my side.

Maybe your POTS filter is also buggered. Maybe remove it and just connect the router and see what happens.

Also, phone Telkom Data 0800 375 375 and ask them to test the line. The are open until 10 or 11 PM.
 
Step 1 : Switch off router/modem.
Step 2 : Remove ADSL filter, lightning protectors, splitters, everything.
Step 3 : Listen to line (no filter) with normal phone, if you hear loud QRRRRRARK noises or static, then report a line fault, tell them there is line noise. Stop Here.

Step 4 : Using only the ADSL line and the Router/Modem (No filters, no lightning protectors, no splitters) use the internet for a while, see if it's ok. If OK, investigate each splitters/filter/lighting protector in turn and replace as appropriate.

Step 5 : Borrow a friends router/modem to eliminate the router/modem as a problem.

Step 6 : Call Telkom and report the fault, be prepared to fork out ~R500 if they find a fault on your side.
 
Thanks! I have tried disconnecting it and restarting it, doesnt make a diff...I have to open and close my laptop like 5-6 times and then it works for a little while...


When i dosconect and reconnect the phone, it works for like 1 phonecall, then it just stops...
