Hey all :mad:

I bought a MTN E220 Card from someone guess he already flashed it with a vista firmware coz i just installed it on vista and it work's. BUT the problem is it downloads between 50 and 100mb's then just stops, the connection is still active but it cant send and recieve ANY data.I then have to close the Dashboard app unplug the modem then plug it in again and connect before it can start downloading again.It also happens when i browse for about an hour.

What I have done:

I have already udated it to the latest firmware and dashboard...still does the same.

I tried it on Windows XP and it does exactly the same

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

WHAT CAN I DO PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE COME TO MY RESCUE.

What APN are you using? Changing from mymtn to internet or internetvpn might help with this. (You may need to call to get provisioned for internetvpn, I can't recall.)

Also, do you have signal strength issues? Setting the card to '3G Only' might help. Otherwise, call 1555 and see if they can help.

Regarding downloads, I always use a download manager (like FDM) - then if anything gets interrupted you can resume it. All network connections are liable to interruptions from time to time.

Thanx for a reply mate, I wil try the APN thing maaaaaaaaby the internetvpn wil work stable as for the download manager i dont think it's it dunno hope the dude did not sell me a dodgey modem *SIGH* my signal is super fine, only having EDGE by me though

BUT if it still keeps on doing the Not recievin and sending Data thing I wil call 1555 BUT don't know how they wil be of any help though.That's why I made my post here HOPING for a solution.

On what connection are you ?

HSDPA/3G/Edge/GPRS ?

Yeah i've had EXACTLY this same **** before. Sorry dude but its not the modem its the ****ing tower you connecting to! I eventually got 3G in my area and now it doesn't happen anymore. I actually tested it again about 5 nights ago and I got the same nonsense. I would download mysql, apache etc... installations and then it would just stop and give some error. I couldn't ping or do jack ****!!!
I took the modem and laptop to a friends place a few KM down the road and it doesn't happen at his house. And its a different tower because he doesn't get any 3G signal...Not bad signal, there is absolutely nothing above 1900 (in frequency terms 3g/hsdpa is 2100) coming from his tower so that is my guess. So you pretty much screwed until you get 3G signal or phone and complain.

Thanx

Thanx for the reply Damn it really sucks hey SIGH, what I wil do is test your theory by going to a friend that isn't in the range of my tower and test it,BUT the thing is when i dload with my Cellphone and the mtn sim on EDGE it does not pull that trick on me.Maby it's coz of the modem's signal and the tower like you said but THANX a lot i will try your suggestion and if it is anfact the problem I am screwd until MTN decides to upgrade to 3G in Vereeniging.

The only way I could bypass this problem was to set it on GPRS/EDGE only. I found that this happened when it switched between the different speeds.

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh

Here I am again begging for someone with a different solution because my problem is still persisting and I dunno what to do???????

:mad::mad::mad:

Could it be that I have to get myself the usb plug with the two plug's at the one end so that the modem gets more current or what?????
