Please recommend me a ADSL router

As heading states. My requirements:

Easy set up.
Strong WiFi.
Built in lightning protection.
Must be able to monitor connection and adjust to optimize download/upload speeds.
At least 4 ports out.
Good local support and backup/warranty.
Must not be PINK.

Price range R1000 - R1750.
 
WOW, on this tech savvy forum, I thought I would have been flooded with suggestions by now. You guys let me down. :(

I got the TP Link AC1750 about a year ago. When I bought it at Uniterm I got a discount, being Mybroadband member. Hopefully they still offer this.

Never had any problems with this, with 5 wireless devices and using three of the 4 LAN ports. The only point on your list not covered is lightning protection.

I just used the APC surge protector for the RJ11 line

Router or modem router?
I don't think any of them have lightning protection worth a damn. But as far as just router goes, the ASUS RT-AC68U is one of the best you will get.
They are about R3K...but there is a new one for sale for R2400. Still above your budget through.
