Please stop giving africa aid

Good article. Not sure if I agree 100%, but I see the logic in his argument. Stopping aid probably would be beneficial to the continent in the long term (the short term consequences would suck though), but only if the developed countries stopped the practice of agricultural subsidies.

Anyways, stop feeding them and let the population levels return to what the environment can handle.

Cruel? Maybe, but is it anymore cruel than causing millions of people to live on the point of starvation?
 
This aid situation is a bit like the situation with SAA. There is no incentive to fix SAA's financial problems as long as management know the government will always be there to foot the bill if they lose money. Same thing with poor countries. As long as there's always more aid money being paid to these governments, there'll be no incentive to govern responsibly.
 
Africa does not need aid, it needs a fair shot to trade on the global markets.

Africa cannot as rich nations heavily subsidies their unprofitable industries where we would like to compete.

Perhaps.
However, they could at least grow their own food.

Corruption. Other African countries don't bribe as nicely as western countries.

That is part of Thabo's master plan and I am sure that trade between African countries has grown significantly over the last decade.
Also more recently they were looking at scrapping (i think) a lot of the duties for trade between African nations to drive this trade growth even more.

Our biggest problem is that the real money is off-shore, we also need to change our profile as a net importer and balance the current account.
We have to focus more on exports to grow.

The big nations though always have an excuse as they are trying to protect their own citizens businesses and jobs. Subsidies stop export trade dead in its tracks, especially agriculture (or so I have been led to believe)

I think a cow in the UK has more money spent on it in a day than the average african child has in a year.

Compete in other industries then, excuses are just that, excuses.

The West subsidises some industries, because they can't afford to rely on African nations which will export one week, and have a civil war the next. If America was too dependent on crops from Africa, America would leave themselves vulnerable to shortages.

Africa needs to be taught how to fish, not given a fish, however that would get in to their self righteous independence mentality, even though they are more dependent today than they were under colonisation.
