i've tried it and although the data prices are lower but you can't always connect when you need to.
i used to be on mtn and it was much more reliable - even telkom was more reliable.

in addition their data support (on 123) is really poor. Most of the time they have to call you back which they never do.

So avoid all the frustration and waiting and stay where you are (mtn, vodacom, telkom etc)

I believe everyone has a problem with some provioders, and Virgin Mobile is rather new so give them a chance.

Mr G - you're right. I am giving them a chance for 3 weeks now and will do some more. However this advice is for those wishing to switch - Just wait a while and let's see if they can come right with their service.

I agree with you abuusamah, they suck. My mms and gprs still don't work after about 10 phone calls to them, I even got the settings straight from nokia on the web, no luck. I'd say to anyone that only has one phone and wants to switch to VirginMobile, wait at least 6 months, then try again. Their customer service sucks and the people are retards, really :p

Well I've been pretty happy with Virgin Mobile so far. In fact, I can connect more easily than I could with Vodacom (Cape Town). I gues it changes from place to place.
I've also called the help desk twice and both time got through quickly and was given to info / help I needed.

I don't have a problem with Virgin Mobile. If I can't connect to the net then I just use my MTN or Vodacom sim.

I am in Vodacom 3G/HSDPA coverage area but I get GPRS/EDGE 98% of the time.

I don't have MTN 3G/HSDPA coverage only GPRS/EDGE. I get 4times the speed with MTN over Vodacom EDGE.

I get better speeds with Virgin Mobile than MTN and Vodacom.

So I will say, give them a chance.

I don't use Virgin Mobile for voice, only for data, in a phone permanently connected to the computer. I've had minimal problems (no more than MTN) and have experience good speed and reliability. Coupled with the 50c/mb bonus I have been _very_ happy with them the past two weeks.

i have also been very happy with VM and am only using them for data.

i have now switched back to mtn (at least for 30 days)

VM's connection was very unreliable. The last straw was the depletion of my airtime without my having used it.

it was a small amt of R7 - which all of a sudden became 0 after using about 1 or 2mb of data.

after numerous phone calls and no responses - which is not surprising as this has happened to me many times in the past few weeks (i.e. no responses)- i am now afraid to Vcharge ... what if my R50.00 vcharge suddenly vdisappears and VM runs away with my money promising to return my call but never fulfilling !?

Furthermore - it's such a bother to find the airtime available - you have to plan way in advance.

Everybody with a problem please read here. This is on www.hellopeter.com
