I had my geyser replaced about a month ago and since then it sounds like there is air in the system! I have run all the taps (hot and cold) for about two minutes as well as one at a time but the hot water tap splutters when opened to any degree.

As mentioned above, it seems to be happening on the hot water taps only.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

1. Contact the plumber who installed it.
2. Get an independent review to see if it meets compliance regulations, faulty piping.
3. Is it gravity-fed or pressurised?
4. Is the water excessively hot, failed thermostat?
5. Is the tap faulty?

So I had the plumber come look at the issue and according to them there is nothing wrong! I have had numerous geysers replaced and have never had an issue where the hot water tap throughout the house "splutters"when opened. If anyone has had similar issues, I would appreciate some feedback.

From another forum:
Because the system is gravity fed it needs all the pipe work to be on an incline so any air can rise to the tank in the roof and be let out of the system. if you have a section of pipe that isn't at the right fall air can get trapped so when you turn on the tap the air is pushed out by the pressure of the water which causes the spluttering.
The only way to solve the problem completely is to locate any pipework that you think could be causing an air lock and replace it with the proper fall.

He would say that! Get hold of real old-school plumber...

Could be the anode - log a warranty call with the manufacturer

What geyser is it? Heattech or Kwikot?
