PlusNet has announced that with immediate effect all its users will be upgraded to 2Mbps, including customers of its £14.99 entry-level Broadband Plus package. It is also offering free activation and modem to new customers.
The UK ISP will soon also have 4Mbps and 8Mbps options available, either through BT's Max DSL rollout or LLU. They are not immediately available, however, as we first reported.
Marketing director Marco Potesta said: 'These product updates deliver a clearer choice to customers as well as setting a clear benchmark on where broadband speed and cost should be in the UK.'
Doubtless the company will be hoping that the announcement overshadows concerns raised by ADSL Guide over PlusNet's platform management policy.
The website is concerned about changes in the way the ISP decides what is and is not reasonable usage levels for its Premier product, which has no traffic limit.
