I've got my CV online and quite a few recruitment companies have called regarding jobs saying they found the CV on Pnet.

But how exactly do the filter it down?
I don't recall putting my skill sets or what I'm looking for?

I'm think that if I know what they did to find me, I could work it to get more hits on PNET ...

All I know is that whenever I update my CV and re-upload to Pnet, for the following 2 weeks I get a plethora of calls. I assume that it triggers a bunch of email alerts to recruiters that subscribe. Perhaps it does a word search or something. I have skills and job experiences listed so its not hard to get hits on specific phrases / words that the recruiters are looking for.

I haven't ever used PNet for this but typically this type of website offers recruiters facility to search for CV's in the same way that jobseekers can search for jobs. If they have requirement for a c# developer, they can use search keywords such as c#, .net, asp, full SDLC or whatever. They can probably also set up alerts for certain keywords or browse cv's with certain criteria that have been added recently.

I think Pnet has a facility where you can add a list of your main skills seperately from your actual CV. Have a look at that rather than trying to add a long list of keywords to your CV (if your CV is correctly written the keywords you need should generally be present in the context of your job descriptions.)

You're right - my bad!

I don't recall entering skills, experience separate to the CV :P

If you are aggressively looking for work as it's apparent you are, one of the most productive things you can do in my experience is to cultivate your online profile. LinkedIn, PNet, Careerjunction etc - spending time to get that database information fully up to date and detailed can get you a lot of hits. Their spiders are pretty good at crawling through CV's and whatnot, but you'll get more targeted hits if you fill in the site info directly.

Exactly the 3 that I did over the weekend :)

Good luck. With jobhunting sites there are 2 kinds as far as I can see: direct and aggregated sites. PNet is the biggest direct site (where employers upload jobs and seekers upload profiles), but Careerjunction is another. LinkedIn is, but it's also a very powerful networking social site and you can also make connections through joining interest groups. Aggregating sites are like Indeed and Trovit, where they trawl a list of sites. Those can be very useful to get daily emails from as well. I'm not actively seeking now but I like to read the daily Trovit alert for my area of work.
